Master Auto Locksmith operate the Portsea Island area providing customers with BMW spare keys and replacement-lost keys for BMW Vehicles. BMW key programming often requires EEPROM data reading and writing, directly to chips on circuit boards. Early BMW’s use the EWS immobiliser system which, in order to program keys, requires an EEPROM read from the EWS module, modifying the data with an additional key and writing the data back. The later CAS system BMW keys can often be programmed via the OBD port but sometimes, particularly with lost BMW CAS keys requires working directly on a removed immobiliser and ECU module. . Later again, the FEM/BDC immobiliser systems require removal of the FEM/BDC module circuit board. Communication with the immo chip is achieved by using purpose made clamps, linked to read/write/programming software. The latest BDC2 BMW systems are currently dealer tools only.

BMW EWS key programming requires removal of the EWS immobiliser module and key programming is completed by working directly on the chip via EEPROM. The key is cut and the EWS is replaced back into the vehicle to achieve a working key. CAS++ systems often carry the ISTAP update, which involves a measured and careful process, full backup of module data, a downgrade of software to ensure security access, and requires 13V+ Battery support. If your vehicle has the ISTAP dealer update this will cost more to program due to the extra time involved in programming the key to your BMW.
