Master Auto Locksmith visited an XK8 customer in Farlington, PO6, whom needed replacement car keys for his Jaguar. His only, and original car key fob had failed and he was relying on the remaining manual key to open the door and start his XK8. This meant he didn’t have a working key fob to operate the central locking. The original key blade was heavily worn and was not working well in the door lock or the XK8 ignition barrel. The key was still working but showed the signs of age and was becoming awkward to operate in the locks. The owner of the Jaguar needed a new set of car keys and fobs.

The Jaguar XK8 had been visited by two auto locksmiths who couldn’t supply the blanks for the car key replacements. Many Jaguar cars of this era (early 2000s) use a variant of the Ford-Tibbe key blade which uses an 2 extra cuts on the key blade. These are not a common key blank to keep in stock for the majority of locksmiths. Jaguar at this point were part of the Ford group and hence, used many Ford derived parts. Master Auto Locksmith keep stock of these extended profile Jaguar key blanks, and can therefore supply, cut and program these Jaguar car keys.

A point of note regarding older and heavily worn car keys, van keys and locks – but particularly applies to vehicles that used the Ford derived Tibbe locks and keys, such as Jaguars:
It is often the case that Jaguar locks and ignition barrels of this era are heavily worn – along with the original keys. Therefore Master Auto Locksmith use an old manual Tibbe-key cutting machine from the 90s, which, to a degree can ‘vary’ the cut of a new key to match a worn profile of old Jaguar locks and ignition barrels. It can take a few tries and therefore a few key blanks may be used in the key cutting process, but matching keys can be provided for customers.
CNC Automatic key cutters will scan and cut a worn Tibbe key correctly, but often these will not work as they don’t have the ‘worn’ profile of the well-used original barrels and keys.
