Portsmouth PO2 – Ford Fiesta Lockout Assistance – Keys Locked in the Boot

A ‘lockout’ customer was visited in Buckland, Portsmouth PO2, with a Ford Fiesta with his keys locked in the boot of the vehicle. The car was a later Ford Fiesta with a high security, HU101 door lock. These can be tricky to pick open.

The customer had put his only set of keys in the back of the company Fiesta van whilst onloading, had shut the boot and the car had locked. The owner of the Ford Fiesta had no spare key. He called Master Auto Locksmith to gain entry to his vehicle in order to retrieve his key.

The door lock had not been used much, if at all, because it was very dry and partially seized. Initially, I could only feel half of the lock waters on the pick, the others were numb. A healthy dose of WD40 was used to wash out the lock. This washed out a load of black crud. Gradually over the next few minutes, the pick began to free up the seized wafers, and I got to the stage where they were all moving correctly.

The door lock now picked open successfully, and I was able to retrieve the customer’s keys from the boot of the Fiesta.

Once bitten twice shy, the customer decided to book in a spare key to be cut and programmed when he was next in PO2. A sensible choice.
