We attended an emergency call out to replace the lost car keys for a lady with a locked Audi A3 without any keys to access it, in Portsmouth PO5. The lady lost all of her keys after parking her car – on her way to work at a local supermarket, including the keys for her Audi A3. We set to work quickly since the individual was in some distress.
Firstly the Audi door lock was picked – after an initial flush out with WD40. The type of lock on this Audi was the HU66 door and ignition barrel. Some Audi & VAG group vehicles use the HU162 lock, which has 3 variants – 8 cut, 9 cut and 10 cut.
The condition of this door lock was good and the lock was picked in less than 10 minutes.
Once picked, the lock was decoded, which means working out the lock and key profile, or the key number, ready for cutting the car key. A key was cut for the vehicle which worked in both door lock and the ignition barrel. Since the customer wanted 2 keys, another duplicate blade was cut.

2 Audi A3 remotes were prepared. The two freshly cut keys were installed into the remotes. The all keys lost process was initiated for the Audi A3, which can be quite involved, and the two keys were programmed to the vehicle and tested. During the process of replacement keys on many VAG group and Audi vehicles, it is important to take backups of data, such as the immo and sync data.
