Retrieve Car Keys From Inside The Car

Having been caught in traffic on the way to PO7 and stopped by every traffic light on the way, I was anxious to get to the car. Upon arrival, the dog – sat in the boot of the car seemed happy and un-phased by the whole debacle.

VW Golf  – Gaining Entry

Sporting an HU66 lock on the VW Golf, picking the lock seemed to be the obvious initial choice. As is often the case with modern vehicles, the lock had never been used and required some freeing up before lock picking could occur. I washed out the VW door lock with WD40. Upon picking, the lock was rocking towards opening, but there were 2 lock wafers that needed working free before it would successfully pick. At this point, I decided to leave the WD40 to penetrate for a few minutes, and looked an alternative way to gain entry in the meantime.

The car key remote was on the driver’s seat of the VW golf. It was upside down, with the remote buttons pointing down towards the seat. I used wedges and air bags at strategic points on the driver’s door to create a gap big enough to gain entry for a rod into the vehicle.

I initially attempted to activate the central locking button on the inside of the driver’s door, but couldn’t put enough pressure on the button. I swapped to flipping the key over to enable me to push the unlock button on the key fob, with the end of the rod. This was successful and the vehicle unlocked. The door lock did not need to be picked but, received a thorough washing out, breathing new life into the lock. The customer was advised to use the door lock with the key intermittently, instead of solely relying on the central locking from the key fob. This maintains the lock with regular use.
