We can assist with lost VW keys in Fareham, we cover Hampshire and the surrounding counties. This lost car keys job was a VW T5 camper conversion, with failing door locks, making it challenging to access the vehicle. A careful approach was needed to gain access & pick the locks. The tailgate and side door locks were turning with no resistance – fully seized, the only working lock being the passenger side door. This lock was partially seized, very dry and full of dirt. A plentiful washout with WD40 started the process by washing out the lock and then this was left to penetrate for a while. The lock was then picked open using a HU66 lock pick, however at this point with the door and the lock picked open, the door lock fully seized and could not be decoded and would operate at all from this point. We were lucky to gain access. A plan B was required to achieve a working key.

Plan B – Picking and Decoding the VW Ignition Barrel
Moving to the ignition barrel, this was picked open with a VAG HU66 lockpick and the bittings were decoded. A new key blade was cut from the decoded bittings obtained from the ignition barrel. This worked in the ignition but unearthed a further issue which needed a repair before proceeding further.
Upon using a freshly cut HU66 key blade in the VAG ignition barrel, it became clear that this was also on the way out, showing signs of the typical failure that many VAG cars suffer, which is a failed or failing ignition lock or barrel, or both. This VW T5 was high mileage and all vehicle locks showed signs of heavy use and very high wear. The issue with this VAG ignition was the ignition barrel, which was replaced before going any further.
VW T5 All Keys Lost – Cluster Removal to Program New Keys Via EEPROM Programming
The next task was to program a transponder into the VW T5 immobiliser, enabling a key to start the vehicle. The instrument cluster was removed and worked on in bench mode. VAG group key programming interface was connected to the immobiliser chip directly, and a laptop was used to program a transponder. The customer wanted 2 keys, so the first transponder was cloned onto a 2nd chip.
VW T5 Central Locking Remote Programming
The last phase of this lost car keys job was to pre-code and assemble the keys, and glue the transponders into position into the remotes. The remotes were then programmed into the vehicle, to operate the VW Transporter’s central locking system.
